JTL has strengthened its Board of Trustees with the appointment of Stuart Mills.
Stuart’s career has spanned field engineering, commercial technology, energy and the voluntary sector. According to a statement, his appointment has brought additional strategic and technical insight to the Board.
He began his career in engineering with the Royal Navy and Schlumberger before moving into senior leadership roles across the energy and technology sectors. During seven years at Salesforce, he designed and scaled skills programmes across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The statement said he reached more than one million learners and supported 55,000 people to gain professional certifications. He is now founder of Practical Acts and serves as UK Network Connector within the BMW Foundation’s Responsible Leaders Network. Stuart has also served on the Audit Committee of UnLtd and co-led industry action through FutureDotNow to help close the UK’s digital skills gap, the statement added.
JTL’s Board was formed over 35 years ago through a partnership between Unite the Union and the Electrical Contractors’ Association (ECA). The statement said it reflects the strength and diversity of the sectors it serves. It combines employer representation with independent expertise from a range of sectors, it cited.
JTL remains focused on its learner-centric approach, building on recent progress in training quality, operational efficiency and financial sustainability. With a growing network of training centres across England and Wales, JTL is committed to being the training provider of choice for the building services engineering sector.

“Having started my own career in engineering, I understand the value of high-quality technical training and the opportunities it can create for learners and employers.
