With 11% of households in England into fuel poverty, Intergas has joined National Energy Action (NEA) in combatting the problem.
The NEA believes the key to tackling this problem is to improve the energy efficiency of our housing and address the inequity that sees the poorest households spending £1 billion more a year on energy compared to non-fuel poor households.
Speaking about their association, Manny Puletti, sales director, Intergas, said: “In a first world country like ours it is staggering that people have to choose between eating and heating. Living in a warm, dry home shouldn’t be an option, it should be your right.”
Intergas sees its role as a campaigning one, helping to spread the word on saving energy by making small changes that will bring down utility bills. Its upcoming social media campaign will highlight the steps we can all take to be smarter about energy use.
The NEA works across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and with its sister charity Energy Action Scotland, to address all aspects of fuel poverty, but places particular emphasis on the importance of greater investment in domestic energy efficiency. In partnership with central and local government, fuel utility companies, housing providers, consumer groups and voluntary organisations, it undertakes a range of activities to address the causes and treat the symptoms of fuel poverty.
