In November, Steve Willis Training Centres welcomed the Class of 2016 to Apprenticeship Graduation and Awards Ceremonies at its Sussex and Hampshire Training Centres.

This year, over 80 apprentices graduated from their gas, plumbing and electrical installation apprenticeships. Alongside their families and employers, they were joined by representatives from industry, including award sponsors Worcester, Bosch Group, Danfoss, Intergas, NICEIC and Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE).

Speakers at the two events included CIPHE vice president, Geoff Westall, and Nick Fothergill, training manager from Worcester, Bosch Group, who told the apprentices: “Graduating this evening is just the beginning of your journey of ongoing learning throughout your career. The industry is changing, and apprentices are the future of smart energy.”

As well as receiving their certificates, 14 apprentices won Special Recognition Awards for their achievements. Two Apprenticeship Support Awards were also presented to employers who had gone that extra mile to help and support their apprentices. This year these awards went to F Humphrey Heating (Sussex) from Brighton, and Andy Gas Southern from Portsmouth.
