Women are just an estimated 1% of all plumbers and with Gas Safe’s estimate of 500 women on the register two of the main purposes of #WITConference is to give women in the industry the opportunity to meet one another, a first for many, and to encourage them to stay and continue to exceed everyone’s expectations. As the only national event specifically for women in the industry, WIT provides that and celebrates the grit, determination and skill of those already here.
The first ever Women Installers Together Conference last September was so successful, Stopcocks Women Plumbers have teamed up with Polypipe Building Materials to do it again to celebrate the achievements and independence of women in the plumbing and gas industry on 4 July.
Other returning sponsors are Fernox and Vaillant with new sponsors; Graham Plumbers Merchant joining as headline sponsor the first time.
Important new companies getting involved and committed to increasing the numbers of women in plumbing, gas and construction are Kier Services, Redrow Homes and Calor Installer.
Manufacturers backing women in the industry include Impey Showers, Monument Tools and Base PPE who are supporting the event in collaboration with Brian Hyde.
Speakers will be Hattie Hasan, host and founder of Stopcocks Women Plumbers and Olympian Anna Hemmings MBE, with a training session from Jazz Wilson of Polypipe on emotional intelligence in the workplace.
Female installers from around UK are also invited to be Famous for Five Minutes and speak about their plumbing triumphs.
