Watts Microflex HP: An all-in-one connection solution for faster, simpler heat pump installations

Watts

Available now from Watts, Microflex HP is a complete, pre-insulated piping solution designed to simplify connections between external heat pumps and buildings. Purpose-built for heat pump applications, including air-to-water monobloc systems, Microflex HP combines heating and cooling flow and return pipes with dedicated conduits for mains and control cables, all within a single protective outer casing.

Created to make heat pump installations faster, neater and easier to manage on site, Microflex HP provides a single route for heating, power and control. Its lightweight, highly flexible construction makes the pipe easy to handle and route around corners and obstacles, while compatible accessories can be installed without special tools. Bringing the water pipes and cable conduits together also means only one wall entry point is required, helping installers create a straightforward, space-efficient connection between the heat pump and the building.

Marthijn Van Tent, Sales Leader Northern Europe Watts Industries UK, said: “Microflex HP has been developed to make one of the key stages of a heat pump installation simpler for installers. By bringing heating, power and control into one flexible, integrated solution, it reduces the number of separate services that need to be routed between the heat pump and the property.

“Its flexibility makes it easier to work with real-world installation routes, while the pre-insulated construction helps minimise heat losses between the heat pump and the building. For both new-build and retrofit projects, it provides installers with a practical, robust solution designed specifically around the requirements of modern heat pump systems.”

Microflex HP incorporates two PE-Xa heating and cooling pipes with an oxygen diffusion barrier alongside two conduits for power and network cables. Closed-cell PE-X foam insulation around the carrier pipes helps minimise heat loss and has minimal water absorption, while the robust, UV-resistant PE-HD double-wall outer casing protects the pipes and insulation from external impacts. Its closed-chamber construction also helps prevent water ingress should the outer surface become damaged.

Designed with challenging installations in mind, Microflex HP can accommodate bending radii from just 0.3m, depending on pipe size, giving installers more freedom to route connections around obstacles and into buildings. The range is available with PE-Xa carrier pipes from 25mm to 40mm, is suitable for both heating and cooling, and has a maximum operating pressure of 6 bar and a maximum constant medium temperature of 85°C, with a peak temperature of 95°C. Watts also offers compatible connection kits and can cut Microflex HP to size free of charge, helping reduce waste and ensuring the required length arrives ready for the project.

Microflex HP forms part of Watts’ wider range of solutions for air-to-water heat pump installations, alongside pump groups, controls, hydronic components, balancing valves, magnetic filters, pressure gauges, safety valves and backflow prevention products. Together, these solutions support efficient, reliable heating and hot water systems across new-build and retrofit applications.
