Just a few months after the publication of its latest report setting out its progress towards demanding sustainability targets, heating and renewables specialist, REHAU, has switched to 100% renewable electricity for all of its plants in the UK.

This includes not only its window system and pipework production facilities in Blaenau and Amlwch, but also its head office in Ross on Wye and its distribution warehouse in Runcorn.

Provider, SmartestEnergy, has issued REHAU with a certificate acknowledging its commitment to purchasing renewable electricity up until the end of September 2016, and REHAU has already confirmed that it will continue into 2017.

REHAU’s UK chief executive, Martin Hitchin, said: “This is the latest evidence of REHAU’s commitment to an energy efficient, sustainable future – not just in the products we manufacture but in how we manufacture them.

“As a group, we’ve targeted a 30% reduction in primary energy consumption per tonne of production by 2020 and here in the UK this is a significant step in our progress towards that.”
