Plumbing apprentice wins JTL’s Midlands prize

Shaun Donaldson from Birmingham has been named as JTL’s Mechanical Engineering Services Apprentice of the Year in the Midlands.

Following a successful apprenticeship with local firm, JS Wright Co, Shaun’s victory was announced at a celebratory event at The Jurys Inn, Hinckley, last month. He was presented with a £100 cheque and glass trophy.

Shaun, who was recognised by his training officer for his progress both academically and practically, has now been shortlisted to represent the Midlands against three other regional MES winners at JTL’s National Awards in June.

Shaun, who currently holds an NVQ L2 diploma in plumbing and heating, said: ‘’After a challenging start to my apprenticeship, I am extremely grateful to both my employer and my JTL training officer, for sticking with me, and for recognising my commitment for the course with this award. I believe that to be successful in your apprenticeship you must be patient and hardworking, and always be willing to listen and help others – things I’ve really tried hard to achieve throughout. I couldn’t be more excited for the National Awards.’’
