Stoke-on-Trent leads rise in renewables

Uswitch has analysed an increase in the number of new renewable installations in line with the UK’s green ambitions.

The energy company found which local authorities have done the most to reduce their reliance on fossil fuels and the grid.

Among those most improved regions for renewable installations over last five years was Stoke-on-Trent, with an 86% rise in renewable installations, mainly solar pv since 2015.

Cornwall had the highest overall number of installations of any region, with 18,456 installations in total, it said.

Six more regions – North Lincolnshire, Aberdeenshire, Boston, Durham, Nottingham and Northampton – have increased their totals by over 1,000 installations.
