Resideo has announced that it will be collaborating with the new Green Skills Academy, which has now opened its doors in Trafford Park, Greater Manchester.

Launched in January, it is set to help provide industry training to students and installers based in the North of England, to help build their knowledge of the latest energy efficient and low carbon technology.

Resideo has been involved with one of the key elements of the Green Skills Academy – a full-sized, low-energy model house. The house has been designed to show how energy efficient products work in a real-world environment. It means attendees see how individual low carbon products are installed and how they operate with other elements as part of a complete, efficient heating system.

The Resideo Academy is due to be working with the Green Skills Academy to provide industry training to students, as well as providing additional upskilling to installers. It has provided Resideo products to equip the training booths with its energy-efficient heating control technology. The Resideo Academy has also sponsored and donated equipment to the Green Skills Academy classroom workshop.

Darren Cooke, EMEA training and enablement leader from Resideo, said: “There is currently a great deal of focus on the opportunities to be gained in the green skills arena. This includes not only those in the plumbing and heating sector, but also in the wider construction industry too. Practical, first-hand experience is essential to building confidence and expanding these skill sets.

“Therefore, by collaborating with the Green Skills Academy, we can make a real difference in providing more opportunities for installers to learn about the benefits of individual low-carbon products and how they work together.

“Through the Resideo Academy, we want to help support and train students and installers – to equip them with the skills they need now, and in the future. We hope installers, apprentices and those with an interest in expanding their green skills will make use of this unique learning facility.”

Roosevelt Alexander, director of the Green Skills Academy, added: “We’re proud to collaborate with an organisation that shares our passion and commitment to training the next generation to support the transition to net zero carbon.

“The Green Skills Academy is on the front line of this transition, helping our workforce, individual households and communities play a key part in the fight back against climate change and we’re delighted to work with Resideo on this shared goal.”
