Panasonic and tado° have launched two new smart features for heat pumps, AQUAREA Sync and hydraulic balancing.

A company statement said the new features are expected to make heat pumps cheaper to run, longer-lasting and easier to install – all without needing costly or messy plumbing work.

AQUAREA Sync is available now and hydraulic balancing is set to be available from November.

The statement added that the features are to provide customers with lower heating bills. They are also expected to provide a longer heat pump life span, simplified installation and ensure no more cold spots.

According to the European Heat Pump Association, more than 25m heat pumps are already installed in Europe. More installations are expected as energy prices rise and households look to cut costs and reduce their emissions, the statement said.

Enrique Vilamitjana, Panasonic Corporation’s Heating & Ventilation A/C Company, added: “AQUAREA Sync makes your heat pump even smarter without replacing a thing. And with hydraulic balancing, we’re removing one of the biggest barriers to switching – installation hassle. These features make energy savings easier and heat pumps more accessible to everyday households.”

Christian Deilmann, co-founder of tado°, added: “This next chapter in our partnership with Panasonic is about building smarter features together. Because we’re vendor-agnostic, our system already works with many heat pumps, but our deep technical access to Panasonic’s AQUAREA models let us go further than ever. These upgrades give people more comfort, more savings and more ease – all in the background, automatically.”

While tado°’s Heat Pump Optimizer X also works with heat pumps from many other manufacturers, the statement noted that the partnership with Panasonic enables a deeper level of integration.
