New CIPHE president sets out goals

The Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE) welcomed its new national president Dr Henry Hung at an AGM earlier this month.

He was welcomed into office with vice president, Alex Wildish elected to his side.

Dr Hung has dedicated himself to sanitary and plumbing engineering for more than 40 years, having obtained a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) and Master Degree of Business Administration (MBA) at the University of Newcastle (Australia).

He has served two consecutive years as vice president and he has been actively involved in the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering-Hong Kong Branch (CIPHE-HKB) for many years, a statement added.

Outgoing president, Melville Gumbs handed the reins over to Henry, while Paul Massey who has served as an Independent Trustee since 2020, also took over as independent chairman from Nick Gale.

CIPHE CEO Kevin Wellman said: “Each president makes a unique mark upon the industry and the Institute. Henry’s aims for a global CIPHE covers new ground and a fresh approach to a role that is over 100 years old. In his two years as vice president, we have already seen what a strong ambassador Henry is for those in Hong Kong and the UK membership. Whilst we say a huge thank you to his predecessor in the role, Melville Gumbs, we have great expectations for Henry’s year ahead.”
