JTL had a highly successful night at the Asian Apprenticeship Awards held at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground – winning two prizes.
The firm was awarded the Learning Provider of the Year Award for 2018, while one of its plumbing apprentices – Shabeeb Mohammed, from Rotherham – won Apprentice of the Year in the Construction sector.
JTL has been highly influential in increasing the numbers of apprentices joining the electrical and heating and plumbing industries from the black, Asian and minority ethnic sectors.
For a number of years, it has been running an Ambassador programme to encourage apprentices from under represented communities to enter the apprenticeship field, with the more than 30 young ambassadors participating in activities to encourage others from their communities to consider applying for apprenticeships through JTL into the building services sector.
JTL chief executive, Jon Graham, said: “We’ve been happy to support these awards for the past few years and we’re honoured to receive recognition for our apprentices and ourselves.
“It was great to see Shabeeb winning his well-deserved award this year – and to win the Learning Provider of the Year Award was the icing on the cake for us.
“It was a huge pleasure for us to meet so many inspiring young people and to cement our relationship with the organisers and other employers that work closely with them each year, to make these awards the success they have become.”
