Gaia Underfloor Heating has installed a range of underfloor heating systems for Seven, the final building within the Southbank Place development.

The company were approached by mechanical contractor FG Mechanical to work alongside M&E consultant Caldwells to provide a variety of heating systems for the development.

Jenny O’Connor, senior account manager at Gaia, said: “We were thrilled to be approached by FG Mechanical to work on this project! Getting the best heating for these luxury apartments was essential, so it was great to collaborate with Caldwells to ensure we delivered the most suitable underfloor heating system for this project.”

Gaia supported FG Mechanical from the early stages of the tender. It suggested a variety of systems to help keep the project within budget. The team also worked with the contracts manager to provide technical and specification support for three different heating types: wet underfloor heating, electric underfloor heating and electric wall heating.

The company designed, supplied, installed and commissioned all three systems for 92 plots over 13 floors. This included wet underfloor heating pipe in screed and electric underfloor heating cables installed in decoupling membrane.

Jenny continued: “By incorporating all three systems, we’ve ensured that every space has the most suitable heating. This means residents will enjoy a consistently comfortable home environment, with responsive, energy-efficient warmth that can be easily controlled to maximise comfort and efficiency throughout the year.”

Installation and commissioning took place between June 2024 and April 2025, with residents expected to move into the building from Autumn 2025.

Jenny added: “Projects of this scale are always exciting to be part of and Southbank Place was no exception. Our team demonstrated excellent skill on this project, working flexibly and collaboratively with the wider project team. Receiving positive feedback from the client is a great testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved.”
