The pilot light on my Worcester R 29 / R 40 HE conventional condensing boiler has gone off and I can’t get any central heating. Can you give me some advice on how to get it working?

Question from Andrew Smith, via email:
The pilot light on my Worcester R 29 / R 40 HE conventional condensing boiler has gone off and I can’t get any central heating. Can you give me some advice on how to get it working?

Answer from Martyn Bridges, director of marketing and technical support at Worcester, Bosch Group:
I’m sorry to hear of the problems you are encountering with your Worcester Greenstar condensing boiler. We are a little confused with your comments though as the Greenstar doesn’t have a pilot light, the boiler has a fully automatic ignition system.

Are any of the lights on the fascia flashing? There is a reset button on the fascia that may need resetting if there are lights flashing. Also has the boiler been serviced recently?

In summary, it is very difficult to diagnose what the problem is from your description; therefore it would be sensible to call out your installer or a service provider to check the appliance over. Installers can contact Worcester’s technical helpline on 0844 892 3366 or customers can reach us through our contact centre on 0844 892 3000.
