I’ve got a Baxi 105e, the pressure when the boiler is off is at 0 but when I turn the boiler on, it moves to a normal operating pressure. Can you help?

Question from Glen Garrett, via e-mail:
I’ve got a Baxi 105e, the pressure when the boiler is off is at 0 but when I turn the boiler on, it moves to a normal operating pressure. I don’t have any leaks anywhere and don’t have to fill the system up. Can you help?

Answer from Lee Carruthers, technical officer at heateam – the service division of Baxi Group:
The pressure gauge on a 105e is purely mechanical not electrical, therefore, it should read the same values whether the model is turned on or off. If you are losing or gaining pressure adversely, areas to check would be the PRV, the plate heat exchanger and the expansion vessel.
