Roca Group UK and Ireland has appointed Mike Trender as its new offsite specification manager.
Mike has worked in the bathroom industry since the late 1980s. In his new role, Mike’s main responsibilities will be working to connect developers, architects, main contractors and pod manufacturers to promote the use of Roca and LAUFEN products in offsite construction.
Jon Bond, project sales director at Roca Group UK, said: “The pod bathroom sector has grown enormously in the last few years and we’re eager to establish ourselves as first choice for our offsite partners. This is why I’m so delighted to welcome Mike on board. His extensive experience within bathroom specification gives him essential insight, as well as a valuable overview of the sector as a whole. I’m looking forward to working closely with Mike in the coming months.”
Mike’s first projects role was with CP Hart, before specification roles at Vola, Colourwash, Bette and House of Rohl.
Mike said: “I think the main challenge going forward will be the extremely competitive nature of pod manufacture. The margins are very tight and new regulations surrounding safety for higher risk buildings has delayed many projects, which creates further complications.
“Having said all this, Roca and LAUFEN are some of the world’s most recognisable brands, so I’m really looking forward to working with them within the demanding environment of modern construction. What’s more, the focus that Roca Group has on decarbonisation is unique in the industry and aligns perfectly with the green credentials of architects and developers choosing offsite construction methods. This is going to lead to a lot of exciting conversations with existing and potential partners.”
