This year’s Women Installers Together (WIT) conference, organised by Stopcocks Women Plumbers, is set to take place on Friday 4 July at The Camden in London.
Konnie Huq, presenter of Blue Peter, is the special guest speaker at the all-day event.
Tickets are free for tradeswomen and trainees, and £60 for allies and interested parties. Tickets can be found on Stopcocks Women Plumbers’ website.
Hattie Hasan MBE, WIT’s founder and regular host, will guide attendees through the day. The theme of this year’s event is ‘Looking After Ourselves’, starting with Hattie’s introduction and keynote speech.
Next there will be roundtable discussions where sponsors and guests can hear tradeswomen share their experiences and self-care tips.
After lunch is Five Minutes of Fame, where tradeswomen around the room take up the mic. Konnie Huq will also share her story.
Finally, the event’s raffle will take place.
Each activity is separated by opportunities for tradeswomen to meet each other and talk to the WIT’s sponsors. The sponsors for this year’s event are: Mark Vitow, Impey/Coram, LCL Awards, Octopus Energy, Resideo, Sureserve, Monument Tools, Halcyon Water Conditioners, SMG, On The Tools, City Plumbing, Vaillant UK and Mira Showers.
Hattie said she founded WIT in 2017 because she recognised the isolation of tradeswomen. According to a statement, many tradeswomen still only meet each other at this event and train in colleges without toilets for women trainees.
