According to new data released by Hive to mark Earth Day, Hive smart thermostats have helped Brits save £500m on their energy bills over the last 12 years.
Hive stated that its thermostat users have saved the same amount of carbon required to power over 539,000 homes for a year, make over 1m return flights from London to New York, charge 560bn smart phones, or drive over 6bn petrol car miles 240,954 times around the earth.
Gav Murray, director of Home Heating at Hive, said: “It’s astounding to see the collective impact our customers have made on both the planet and their wallets since Hive launched back in 2013. We’ve come a long way since then. What started as a single thermostat has transformed into the UK’s largest home eco-tech company, offering a range of solutions that transform householders’ ability to live greener, lower bills and control their energy. We want people to know their power – and today’s milestone shows what’s possible.”
Hive noted that its data found investing in a smart thermostat can save users £192 per year on energy bills.
