WATER HEATING, TANKS & CYLINDERS OSO HOTWATER HIGHLIGHTS THE MAJOR ISSUES AFFECTING THE WATER HEATING MARKET AND HEATRAE SADIA OFFERS SOME TIPS WHEN CHOOSING Advance Appliances has updated its SFUTS Multi Fuel Thermal Store with two electronic timers pre-wired and fitted to the unit. The first timer is for the boiler as overnight boiler firing can be a nuisance in a quiet household. The second is for the wood burner input, the timer turns off the pump on this circuit so that all captured heat is kept in the store and not re-circulated through the wood burner. The stainless steel unit has three A rated pumps fitted for integrating oil or gas boilers with solid fuel appliances for mains pressure hot water and sealed central heating. The store also has a coil for solar thermal and two immersion heaters fitted for back up, or for use with PV solar. It is pre-wired and pre-plumbed and has been independently assessed for CE marking. Advance Multi Fuel Thermal Store operates as a sealed system. It has three levels of safety, the last of which is a mechanical thermal valve which will operate during power cuts. Installers can make a considerable time saving fitting the SFUTS. It takes away the thinking and design time, it removes the need to specify and buy the components as they are fitted, and when it comes to the installation the flow and return for wood burner, boiler and central heating is plumbed straight to the connections on the tank. The wiring is all done except for the heating programmer and boiler live connections, a saving of at least three days. The store is guaranteed for ten years, and the fitted components are guaranteed for two years. AN UNVENTED CYLINDER High efficiency cylinders from Worcester, Bosch Worcester, Bosch Group now offers a series of Greenstore single coil (SC) mains pressure unvented hot water storage cylinders, providing improved hot water performance for UK heating systems. The Greenstore SC series enables Worcester to offer the complete system solution for installers looking to couple a high-efficiency cylinder with one of its established range of Greenstar gas or oil-fired condensing boilers. The Greenstore cylinder series is also compatible with any existing gas or oil-fired boiler. Each cylinder boasts a number of premium features, including outstanding re-heat performance and insulation levels that exceed the requirements of Part L of the Building Regulations’ requirements. Each cylinder is also despatched with all the necessary equipment and safety devices to ensure compliance with G3 of the Building Regulations, while maintaining the look and finish synonymous with the other appliances within the Worcester, Bosch Group product portfolio. The quality stainless steel construction means that each cylinder is guaranteed for 25 years. Martyn Bridges, director of marketing and technical support at Worcester, Bosch Group, said: “As the drive towards a more widespread adoption of renewable technologies gathers pace, greater emphasis is placed on the need for hot water storage solutions within the home and our new Greenstore SC cylinders have been specifically designed to offer maximum energy and cost savings.” Fabdec’s 3S Technology offers a simple solution Any unvented water heating system requires some means of expansion as water is heated. In normal use the air gap allowed for this expansion is eventually absorbed by the water in the system which results in an overflow leaking water thus a call-out to re-pressurise the expansion system and an increased inconvenience to the end-user. Fabdec’s revolutionary 3S Technology adopts a simple natural phenomenon based on the Venturi effect, a patented system in which atmospheric air is drawn into the system as water is demanded upstream. Because this occurs as per the hot water demand it does not deteriorate in performance over a period of time. The 3S technology also maintains three bar working pressure at outlet, obviously subject to adequate incoming mains water pressure. Fabdec carried out extensive field trials and completed WRAS approved endurance testing to verify the credentials of this revolutionary technology. Besides reduced maintenance there are other advantages, for example, quicker and easier installation, improved packaging and a complete fit and forget philosophy. Stuart Doggrell, general sales manager, said: “This is a beautifully simple solution that is set to revolutionise how straightforward an unvented water heating system should be. The 3S technology has so many benefits that this should become the preferred option for both installer and end-user.” enquiry number 140 HEATING & PLUMBING MONTHLY NOVEMBER 2015 83 enquiry number 139 enquiry number 141 Advance thermal store
