Altecnic staff celebrate three decades Altecnic is celebrating 30 years as the UK's leading provider of high-quality heating and plumbing components. Accompanied by senior directors from Caleffi, Altecnic's Italian parent company, the entire staff at the Stafford-based business turned out to raise a glass to three decades of successful trading and to toast the future. Altecnic's managing director, Alan Sherwin, said: "Our success is built on our employees, coming to work every day doing the best they can to generate growth in the business. “I want to say thank you to everyone within Altecnic and particularly those who do that little bit extra. Those who get up at ridiculous times in the morning to make sure they are with customers at 8.30. Those who volunteer for the health and safety team. Those who train as fire marshals and first aiders.” In the last 12 months Altecnic has sold 6.7 million products, despatched 61,184 individual orders to 3,469 delivery points and received 12,500 pallets of deliveries. Supporting its customers, Altecnic received 70,000 phone calls last year, with the internal sales team taking 57,000 calls, the technical department answering 6,500 calls and customer services department receiving 2,100. Over the same 12-month period the sales team drove 468,000 miles to visit customers and prospects. Domestic heating transformed The growth of smart home technology is helping to transform domestic heating in both efficiency and design, according to the Institute of Domestic Heating and Environmental Engineers (IDHEE). This is encouraging more homeowners and housebuyers to prioritise heating system design in their planning, refurbishing and purchasing decisions. The progress in innovation and choice is good news for installers and heating engineers as they are well placed to help their customers make the right decision with informed advice. David Matthews, IDHEE CEO, said: “The growth of smart heating controls over the past few years and increasing demand from the housebuilding sector is bringing new opportunities for the heating industry and more choice for the consumer. “Central heating is installed in around 92% of UK homes, but as smart heating technology becomes more popular with householders who want to make their homes more energy efficient and be able to control their heating from a tablet or phone, there are great opportunities for installers.” The IDHEE believes today’s customers are more environmentally aware, energy conscious and discerning when it comes to how Queens Award for Roman they heat their home. The Queens Award for Enterprise is the most prestigious corporate accolade that a UK business can win. Roman designs and manufactures shower enclosures and solid surface products for the bathroom at its headquarters in County Durham and also has three manufacturing plants. The Queens Award is made on the advice of the Prime Minister after examination of applications by an Advisory Committee composed of leading individuals from industry, commerce, trade unions and government.
