He said, “Cleaning paint from old pipes was my least favourite chore. Using a flat blade, it could take ages - and it’s not safe to use a blowtorch.” Mark came up with a curved blade, so it did the job quickly and efficiently, without damaging the pipe. He called his invention ‘PipeStrip’. After a lot of testing by friends in the trade, Mark went into production. PipeStrip is about the size of a spanner and has a bright yellow handle, so it’s easy to find in your toolbox. See it in action at: www.pipestrip.com. Altecnic, the UK’s leading supplier of superior plumbing equipment, is extending its range of fully accredited thermostatic mixing valves designed specifically for centralised systems. The 28mm WRAS approved 521928 TMV2 has a working pressure of 14 bar and is suitable for multiple outlet installations which demand high flow rates such as sports centres and schools. The fully immersed sensor is located in the mixed water outlet which allows it to quickly react to changes in temperature. Altecnic’s TMV also automatically responds to changes in water pressure during peak usage times to maintain the mixed outlet water at the required safe temperature. The two products in tandem ensure that any wetroom or bathroom is warm, dry, superbly insulated and economical to heat. Ian Pattison, MD of Abacus Direct explains “It’s a very effective and simple solution for today’s bathrooms.
