17 BUSINESS NEWS Lakes Bathrooms has opened a new 70,000 square foot warehouse in Staffordshire to expand and spread capacity from the existing 100,000 square foot facility at its current headquarters in Gloucestershire. This distribution hub will house around £1 million-worth of stock, including all PureVue products in the Coastline and Classic Collection, to mirror the comprehensive HQ stockholding. Announcing this expansion, managing director, Robin Craddock, said: “The launch of PureVue and ongoing growth in our product range has put positive pressure on the stock holding space at our headquarters. “With over 40,000 different products and product variants, plus our next day or 48-hour delivery aim to the majority of the UK, we have a significant investment in the volume of stock needed to meet demand and provide capacity for planned growth. “Opening another site became imperative and we decided to spread geographically, to support speed of delivery across the UK,” he said. Lakes Bathrooms also plans to expand its fleet of delivery vehicles. What is Triton’s latest launch called? The investment means unbeatable availability of 200 of the fastest moving parts in every branch with a further 65,000 products available for next day delivery. It is expected that 20% of all UK household boilers fail during the colder months so Plumb and Parts Center has carried out detailed analysis into the most frequently ordered and required parts across the UK. The 200 includes parts from all leading brands such as Baxi, Honeywell, Ideal, Potterton, Alpha, Ravenheat, Vaillant, Vokèra and Worcester Bosch. Simon Allan, category director for parts at Plumb and Parts Center, said: “Clearly installers are rushed off their feet at this time of year, and it’s made worse by the fact that we, as consumers, are becoming unrealistically impatient – it’s all driven by smart phones and brands like ASOS and Amazon who have made waiting an alien concept. It’s imperative to our business that our stock is readily available for customers so that they can get the job done quickly.” The investment comes as part of a wider strategy to make sure installers have everything they need, whenever they need it. The business also wants to ensure that installers don’t feel compelled to constantly carry large quantities of stock on their van. Simon continued: “The role of a responsible merchant is to ensure that customers can do better business. This whole initiative is about customers having the trust to treat us as their own personal warehouse in their local area.” People Inspection manager, Tim Lock, has taken over the position of technical director at OFTEC. Tim’s new position comes after the post of technical director was vacated by Paul Rose, who has now taken the helm of the organisation as CEO. Former marketing director of Mira Showers, Daniel Brohn, has been appointed president of Global Faucets by Kohler Co.
