15 FRONT COVER PROMOTION Step-by-step: installing the new Fernox TF1 Omega Filter At Fernox, the process of launching a filter to market involves extensive research, development, testing and optimisation. At every stage of these processes, the needs of the installer are taken into account. Hence, the new Fernox TF1 Omega Filter has been intuitively designed to reduce time spent on-site and can be successfully installed by following six simple steps: 1) Switch off the boiler and drain the system. 2) Locate the optimum point on the pipework to install the filter. This should be located just before the point where the system water re-enters the boiler. 3) Using the pipe cutter guide supplied with the TF1 Omega Filter, measure and cut the pipework at the point of installation. 4) Depending on the filter version specified, connect the filter to the pipework using either the slip socket connection or the valves. For slip socket connections, remove the nut and olive from the filter and slide the filter onto the pipework – noting that the arrow on the filter should be pointing in the same direction as the water flow. 5) Tighten the connections – first by hand, then secure with an adjustable spanner. 6) The TF1 Omega Filter is now installed. The filter can be turned in-situ and remains functional at angles of up to 45º. Flexible positioning of the unit allows the filter to be accessed even in confined locations when removing the magnet for cleaning. Heating system performance optimised with the new Fernox TF1 Filter When Yorkshire heating engineer, Michael Mackie, was approached to install a high-end domestic boiler in a large property, it was crucial that his customer’s investment was protected by a market leading system filter. For this reason, Michael turned to the precision engineered TF1 Omega Filter. Based in Shipley, West Yorkshire, family-run Mackie Plumbing & Heating specialises in boiler installations and repairs of domestic heating and plumbing systems. Recently, the company carried out an extensive boiler installation at a five-bedroom residential property in Utley, West Yorkshire. Mackie Plumbing & Heating installed a TF1 Omega Filter, the first brass, nickel-plated filter for the domestic market from Fernox, and the most recent addition to its award-winning TF1 filter range. “This project was a premium domestic installation, where the customer specified a top of the range boiler,” said Michael. “It was, therefore, vital to install a durable and highly effective filter with excellent capability to remove magnetite – in order to optimise the effectiveness of the heating system and protect the customer’s significant investment. “The effectiveness of the Fernox TF1 Omega Filter was clear from the outset. Even though it was installed on a fairly new heating system, which had been maintained and previously powerflushed, the filter was still able to collect residue debris from the system water. Having seen how flexible and practical the filter is to install, clean and maintain, I’ve even installed a Fernox TF1 Omega filter in my own home as well.” Next generation, high performance nickel-plated brass filter www.hpmmag.com December 2016 enquiry number 308 Compact and durable design “With over a half century of experience in the water treatment industry, Fernox understands the essential role of filtration in maintaining effective central heating systems”
