Completed in August 2013, the installation was undertaken by Marcus Sharp, owner of Halifax-based MA Plumbing, who commented: “The NUOS was chosen after I had learned all about its many features and benefits at a promotional day run by my local supplier. It was evidently more than capable of supplying the property with hot water as part of an unvented system, and ran really well during the recent spell of warm weather we’ve had. I‘ve used Ariston’s products – especially their e-combi boilers – on a variety of projects before, so was well aware of the quality and value for money on offer.” Johnson & Starley shows commitment to gas safety at the houses of parliament enquiry number 946 Saint-Gobain PAM Ensign system is first at Glasgow crime scene Inverness Marina building hots up with underwater solution A newly opened Scottish marina building is using renewable energy from the sea to meet its extensive heating and hot water needs, following the installation of a NIBE ground source heat pump system. The Black Isle team specified and fitted a NIBE F1145 ground source heat pump as the solution – using a 400m closed-loop pipe collector system to harness heat from the marina and provide space heating and hot water for the building. Iain Thomas, managing director at Black Isle Renewables, explains: “Research shows that the water temperature at sea bed level in the marina is a relatively constant 10°C all year round. Therefore, it made perfect sense to make the most of the natural surrounding resource”. With RAF bases typically on exposed sites the rapid response of conditions when hangar doors are opened required a heating system which was proven and highly efficient. Offering rapid heat recovery time and promising considerable cost savings over its lifecycle, the Nor-Ray- Vac system was once again up for the challenge of heating a hangar having been used extensively across many civilian and military hangars. enquiry number 948 Pipe Boxing and Access Panels from Timloc A combination of Pipe Boxing profiles from Pendock and bespoke access panels from sister company Timloc, has helped minimise the risk of vandalism at a social housing project, whilst increasing the scheme’s aesthetic appeal. The MX range is highly flexible in its manufacturing capacity, highlighted by the bespoke production of non-standard 400mm profiles to meet the Council’s requirements for aesthetics, security and strength. These access panels were specially manufactured for Southampton City Council, to include a fitted key lock - a feature which is not standard for the range. These panels were installed into the pipe boxing to allow maintenance access to the pipes inside. enquiry number 949 The Gas Industry Safety Week gave Johnson & Starley the opportunity to talk with the Shadow Minister for Work and Pensions about their continual commitment to Gas Safety, Training and the environment.
