26 B U S I N E S S VANS Improved comfort, safety and productivity Compact exterior dimensions, impressive interior volume, ample load-pulling performance and excellent fuel efficiency are all attributes of FIAT Professional's new Talento. HPM’s Alex In all, the FIAT Talento comes in nine body styles – the standard and high-roof vans in short and long wheelbase versions, short and long wheelbase people carriers and crew vans and a long-wheel base platform cab. Features include the 'CargoPlus' storage area under the passenger seats which can accommodate objects up to 3.75m in length by sliding them through a special bulkhead opening. Rear doors can open up to a wide angle of 255°, allowing easy access and usage of the loading bay, while the sliding side door has an aperture of 1,030mm and a load edge just 100mm above the ground. The load volume equals 5.2cu m in short wheelbase models, 6cu m in long wheelbase versions and a generous 8.6cu m in the long wheelbase highroof derivative. This means that the Talento, even in the short wheelbase trim level, is capable of carrying three Euro pallets and, depending on the version, a payload of up to 1,249kg with a gross vehicle weight of up to 3,060kg. The entry-level engine is the 95hp 1.6-litre turbo-diesel, followed by the 1.6-litre MultiJet 120hp diesel. The 1.6-litre twin turbo Ecojet diesel engines provide outputs of 125hp and 145hp. The first turbo provides high torque at low speed to ensure engine responsiveness at low-to-medium revs, whereas the second turbo is activated at higher engine speeds to maintain linear performance across the rev range. As a result, there are no efficiency compromises despite the high power and torque outputs. Indeed, the 125hp version is actually the most efficient in the range returning 47.9 mpg on the official fuel efficiency combined cycle with emissions of just 155g/km, while the high performance 145hp engine matches the economy and emissions outputs of the EcoJet 95hp engine: 46.3mpg and 160g/km. Inside, the Talento has been designed to be easy and pleasurable to use for long periods of time, with ergonomically shaped seats, a perfectly positioned steering wheel and controls which make every day driving more relaxing and safe. Examples of this attention to detail include the 90 litres of in-cabin storage space in a variety of shapes and sizes, an additional blind spot-mitigating ViewPlus interior mirror, a fold-down central seat with detachable clipboard holder and the available smartphone/tablet holder. “The Talento has been designed to be easy and pleasurable to use for long periods of time” In terms of safety, all versions are fitted with LED daytime running lights, ABS with electronic brake distribution and emergency brake assistance. Available safety features include side airbags and window bags. A front parking assist system and a reversing camera are also available. Standard equipment on the entry level Talento includes remote central locking, electric front windows, electrically operated and heated door mirrors, a full bulkhead, a height adjustable driver’s seat with arm rest, dual passenger seat, an audio system with Bluetooth, a full-size spare wheel and steering wheel remote controls. As result of its broad range of body styles, its efficient and powerful engines, its clever and comfortable cabin and its low running costs, FIAT Professional's Talento, positioned between the Doblò Cargo and Ducato in the line-up, is a functional vehicle that helps customers maximise the value of their work, time and investment. Prices, excluding VAT and Off-the-Record (OTR) charges, start at £19,795 for the 1.6-litre MultiJet 95hp SWB standard roof van, the 1.6-litre MultiJet 120hp SWB costs £20,195 and the twin-turbo 1.6-litre EcoJet 125hp S&S is £20,645. Crafted crafter Experts at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles have worked closely with current customers, frequently accompanying them during their daily routines, to explore their needs and find out their visions of what they wanted the new Crafter to be. “With the Crafter, a level of surface quality, robustness and at the same time high qualitative value are achieved that have never before been available in this commercial vehicle class,” said a company spokesperson. At 0.33, the new Crafter has a best in class drag coefficient and inside it combines everyday practicality with optimum cargo space. Approved used Mercedes-Benz Approved Used vans are all now available up to six-years-old, with a maximum mileage of 150,000 miles. The vans come with a full service history and meet a multi-point, pre-sale check to qualify, with outstanding finance, theft and insurance write-off checked. Approved Used vans come with a 12-month MOT, 12-month insurance-based ‘wear and tear’ warranty, which can be easily extended, and are serviced as required if there is less than 5,000 miles to the next service. The corrosion warranty is renewed and there is a minimum of 5mm tyre tread depth remaining, as well as the vehicle benefitting from a full valet. MobiloVan, free UK and Europe-wide roadside assistance, is also reactivated, which gives drivers up to 30 years' roadside assistance from date of registration, with an average attendance time of under 60 minutes and roadside repair rate of 80%.
