(3) The Grundfos ALPHA2 range of domestic circulator is the said to be the most advanced energy efficient circulator of its kind on the market today. This makes it a suitable choice for a variety of domestic circulation heating systems, as it provides both variable speed pressure controlled operation, and standard selectable three speed operation. As an energy efficient product, the ALPHA2 achieves the highest possible energy savings while meeting and exceeding EuP legislative requirements that came into force in January 2013. This was the most significant legislative change to ever take place within the standalone domestic and light commercial pump circulator market. In fact the directive applies, not just to circulators, but to all energy using products that sell more than 200,000 units per year within the EU. There were good reasons to bring about this change to the rules when you realise that pumps consume ten per cent of the world’s electrical power. Grundfos says it had been preparing for this changeover for many years and the Grundfos ALPHA2 and MAGNA circulators have met and exceeded the EuP demanded requirements for many years, prior to the deadline. Today, the Grundfos ALPHA2 has an energy efficiency index of 0.15 runs on as little as 5W. It has been a winner since it was launched and has proven itself as a multiple award winner both in the UK as well as in Europe. With almost three million units produced and sold since its market introduction, it has continued to prove its reliability and efficiency all around the globe. The same can be said of the Grundfos MAGNA for commercial building applications, which was the world’s first pump to integrate a magnetic motor when it was launched back in 2001. A particular benefit of the ALPHA2 range is the AUTOADAPT feature that allows the pump to match its performance to the system requirements. As the heat requirements of a building can vary greatly, today thermostatic radiator valves efficiently control the system output. However this can lead to excessive pump pressure and valve noise. Now the ALPHA2 can not only adapt to these variable conditions but can also reduce electrical energy consumption. Yet another key aspect relating to the ALPHA2 models is that they are simple to install in both new systems or as a replacement pump.
