Acompetition to find Britain’s greatest plumber, with a £10,000 prize fund has been launched and candidates are now being invited to apply. So, have you sourced an interesting product for your customers, solved a challenging installation or have you completed a project that you are particularly proud of? The ultimate question is, do you think you have what it takes? We’re challenging you to enter the Plumber of the Year competition. The competition will see one winner crowned as UK Plumber of the Year, winning £5,000 worth of JT and Bristan products, plus a range of other prizes such as a C.K Magma Open Tote, specially fitted Helly Hansen work wear, a CAT smart phone for one year and a session with a marketing company on how to maximise the award and support your trade profile/ business. If you know your effluent from your elbow and your flux from your filler, this is the perfect competition for you. WHERE TO REGISTER It couldn’t be easier to enter. The competition is free and easy to enter with entries closing on May 13. As an added incentive, all entries before Easter Monday will be entered into a prize draw to win £250 cash. Once all the applications are collected, the Plumber of the Year judging panel, made up of industry experts, will select ten regional finalists with whom they believe are truly worthy of the plumbing title. The application should stand out if you want to get noticed. Whether it’s a video of you installing a shower in a record time, fitting a radiator blindfolded, or if you are confident that you can solve every plumbing problem without reading from a book, we want to hear from you. This competition has been designed to acknowledge the skills and standards across the plumbing industry and allow you to demonstrate your abilities in various skills throughout their trade. What the judges are looking for: • Creativity • Reasons for nominations. What makes you stand out from the competition? • Recommendation form feedback. How do you make your customers happy? • Demonstration of knowledge within the plumbing sector Fiona Bowyer, marketing director of Bristan, and John Schofield, marketing and sales director of JT, are on the hunt for the UK’s Plumber of the Year • Keen interest in innovative ideas • Enthusiasm for industry. HOW TO ENTER: Step one: Visit: www.UKplumberoftheyear.com and register your interest for the competition and fill in the application form that is emailed to you. Remember to make your application as creative as possible; this is your chance to show why you deserve this coveted title. Step two: Ten regional finalists will be selected by the panel of Plumber of the Year judges. The judging panel will consist of industry experts including Paul Crossley, JT managing director, who has over 14 years’ experience at JT and the bathroom business; Fiona Bowyer, marketing director at Bristan; and HPM’s editor for the past seven years, Tim Wood, who will select the leading plumbers Britain has to offer. Finalists will then be encouraged to get as many votes as possible through a ‘Vote for me’ campaign in which they can ask the public, friends and family to vote for them. Finalists will also undergo interviews where they will explain why they should be Plumber of the Year 2015. Step three: The overall winner will be announced in September and awarded the Plumber of the Year title, along with the £10,000 prize consisting of £5,000 worth of JT and Bristan products and various other prizes. Runners-up will receive a pair of Helly Hansen new active shoes with built in toe protection, a C.K. Tools professional tape measure, a CAT s50 Android phone and an active urban rugged phone case. Paul Crossley, managing director of JT, said: “We’ve always wanted to reward our hard-working plumbers who dedicate thousands of hours solving problems and building beautiful bathrooms. Our industry is constantly evolving and the demand for high standard plumbers has never been greater, which is why we want to celebrate the excellent craftsmanship of the UK’s plumbers.
