PIPES, PUMPS, VALVES & FITTINGS DURAPIPE DISCUSSES THE SUSTAINABILITY CREDENTIALS OF PLASTIC PIPEWORK SYSTEMS AND GAH OFFERS SOME GUIDELINES ON HOW TO BOOST WATER PRESSURE Arrow Valves launches break tank and booster set A wall mounted break tank offering Fluid Category five protection has been developed by Arrow Valves to provide point of use backflow protection and boost pressure. The stainless steel cabinet provides a neat and compact installation, making it ideal for kitchens and bathrooms where aesthetics and hygiene are critical. Applications requiring Fluid Category five protection include: •Waste bin washing – single tap •Non-domestic hose union taps • Healthcare (baths with shower hoses, clothes and dish washing machines) • Bidet washing • Sinks with hoses • Vegetable washing. Midi-Break operates automatically and is available with a choice of three pump duties – Midi-1 is used for a basic shower, Midi-2A for more pressure and Midi-3A for highest flow and pressure, such as a single hose union tap. The unit is UK Water Regulations approved. CALPEX offers deeper waves for tighter curves New from BRUGG Pipesystems is the CALPEX range of flexible preinsulated pipes. CALPEX is up to 24% more flexible thanks to a new geometry with more pronounced corrugation. A well-engineered PE-Xa preinsulated pipe system for underground use, CALPEX is a bonded system using PUR insulation which gives very low heat loss. So what has changed? The corrugation of the new CALPEX low-temperature system is deeper and more pronounced than the previous generation. The new, refined casing design means the pipe is now up to 24% more flexible and bending radii has been reduced by up to 30%. The latest enhancement of CALPEX allows those installing the pipe on-site to cope with most situations easily and with significantly less effort. And the high flexibility of the new CALPEX system also brings remarkable benefits with regard to material logistics: the core diameter of the coils can be reduced because of the tighter winding radii. Coil lengths can be increased by as much as 33% and still take up the same space on a truck. To meet increasing demand for CALPEX, BRUGG Pipesystems has installed a further production line in its factory in Switzerland. Farm reaps the benefits Mibec Thermal Solutions, a distributor of the REHAU RAUVITHERM flexible pipe system based in Whitchurch, has demonstrated the advantages of the polymer alternative to steel pipe at a Shropshire poultry farm. The pre-insulated pipe with its LLD-PE corrugated outer jacket and closed cell insulation has been used to link a 120 metre x 30 metre poultry shed with the 200kW gas boiler house located ten metres away and to provide a 100 metre distribution main for the underfloor heating (UFH) system within the shed. RAUVITHERM Duo 50mm pre-insulated pipe was installed for the distribution main and for the link to the boiler house and RAUVITHERM Duo 32mm pipe and individual T-shroud kits were fitted to connect the main with the manifolds on the ten individual UFH circuits within the shed. All of the pipework connections were made using REHAU’s EVERLOC compression sleeve jointing system.
