UNDERFLOOR HEATING UPONOR’S SELF ATTACHING SYSTEM IS FITTED, NU-HEAT EXAMINES THE DESIGN FACTORS THAT WILL HELP FUTURE PROOF RENEWABLE SYSTEMS AND KNAUF HIGHLIGHTS THE ADVANCES IN DRY SCREED FLOORING Uponor UK has launched what it claims to be a revolutionary style of underfloor heating system, the Self Attaching System (also see page 60). The key element of the system is an attaching band consisting of thousands of micro teeth wound in a spiral around Uponor’s oxygen-tight PEX pipe, allowing it to be safely and securely fixed onto specialist laminated insulation boards. Using Uponor’s ‘hook and loop’ technology and high retention force fixing method, the Self Attaching System can be fitted and rearranged quickly and easily, ensuring an unparalleled level of flexibility and installation speed. Myson’s UFH will appeal to Green Deal enthusiasts Myson is anticipating a steady increase in the uptake of its portfolio of underfloor heating (UFH) systems following the launch of the government’s Green Deal scheme. The initiative should encourage more homeowners to adopt UFH, the company believes, appealing to energy conscious, forward thinking consumers. Designed to work with numerous floor types, including solid, suspended and floating floors, the MYSON FLOORTEC hydronic UFH system is suitable for use with all types of wet central heating. This delivers impressive domestic fuel savings when used in a well-insulated property using either a renewable heat source such as a heat pump, or a more conventional high efficiency condensing boiler. The system can be used as part of a mixed heating system, for example with UFH on the ground floor and radiators on the first floor. Myson offers a range of FLOORTEC single room UFH packs, up to 40m2, providing straightforward solutions to refurbishment projects requiring additional heating requirements. This allows single rooms such as conservatories or kitchen extensions, where wall space is at a premium to benefit from energy efficient comfort heating, as well as maximum storage and living space. JG Speedfit introduces its UFH installation videos JG Speedfit has introduced seven instructional installation videos for its various different underfloor heating (UFH) systems. These videos, which are primarily aimed at installers, serve to combat any confusion surrounding UFH installation and further encourage contractors to view it as a heating solution for now and in the future. The videos are easy to follow guides to give confidence to even a first time UFH installer. Each video will depict an expert installer demonstrating how the JG system is put together in a step-by-step manner. Along with a best practice explanation of each JG pipe fixing system, a full breakdown is also provided on how best to install the manifold. Mike Riseley, UK director of sales, said: “These videos will fully complement our Speedfit Support advertising campaign, which aims to inform contractors of the complete UFH technical support package offered by the company.” Uponor heats up with its flexible UFH offering enquiry number 143 enquiry number 145 HEATING & PLUMBING MONTHLY APRIL 2013 59 enquiry number 144
