PRODUCTUPDATE WRAS approval for Salamander’s Home Boost Salamander Pumps’ solution for poor domestic water pressure and flow, Home Boost, has been given WRAS approval. “Home Boost was always WRAS compliant,” said Chris Vallance, Salamander’s sales director, “but it’s great news that Home Boost has now been given WRAS approval. “Low water pressure is a daily source of irritation and inconvenience to countless people in the UK, but, as many plumbers and heating installers know, it’s an offence, under The Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999, to ‘connect a pump or a booster drawing more than 12 litres per minute to a supply pipe; either directly or indirectly’”. The software built into Home Boost recognises increases in mains pressure and flow and reacts by automatically reducing its assistance to the incoming mains. enquiry number 112 RIO LK packs a punch for heating performance from a small footprint The RIOpanel range of heating solutions complements all architectural styles, allowing for unobtrusive yet highly efficient heating. From a very small footprint the RIOpanel LK convector offers the option to heat on its own, or in tandem with other radiators. RIOpanel LK combines high heating performance with a heating source that takes up as little space as possible. When not used on its own, RIOpanel LK can be combined with standard RIOpanel radiators. For example, the convector is ideal for positioning in front of full height glazing, under ceilings, in convector trenches in floors or anywhere space is limited. In many cases it will be teamed with RIOpanel’s discreet profiled or flat front wall mounted radiators. RIOpanel LK comes in a selection of heights and lengths and with special profile tubes - H70 mm x W11 mm (two mm thick) and a built-in valve system for one- and two-pipe valve systems. sponsored by The Perfect Commercial Partnership 20 APRIL 2013 HEATING & PLUMBING MONTHLY enquiry number 116 ETI launches the Thermapen fast response air thermometer The Thermapen fast response air thermometer from Electronic Temperature Instruments is said to be an invaluable tool in establishing the correct air temperature quickly in HVAC applications. Improvements in temperature probe technology allow the Thermapen to measure the temperature almost instantly, better than three seconds for a full temperature reading. It incorporates a large digital display with a precise read-out over the range of -49.9 to 299.9 °C with a 0.1 °C resolution and an accuracy of ±0.4 °C. The thermometer will power off automatically after ten minutes, maximising battery life. This feature can be disabled if not required. Both low battery (icon) and open circuit indication are also displayed, when applicable. Each Thermapen is powered by two lithium coin cell batteries with a minimum life expectancy of 1,500 hours.
