WWW.HPMMAG.COM Shower enclosure specialist, Lakes Bathrooms, has opened a 100,000 square foot factory in response to growing demand for its products. The manufacturing site is in Ningbo, in the north east of China and it exports all its goods to supply the UK bathroom market and Lakes Bathrooms’ growing, world-wide, OEM business. According to Lakes Bathrooms, the new, much larger factory site is needed to increase manufacturing capacity of the Coastline Collection and to accommodate the new product ranges currently in final design stages. The modern site comprises a three-storey office block, including showroom, plus manufacturing space and a separate five-storey dormitory with canteen to provide accommodation for its workforce. Commenting on the factory move, managing director, Robin Craddock, said: “We have been fortunate to grow and continue to expand, despite contraction in the wider market. With business strong for our established Classic Collection and continued growth of our eight mm Coastline Collection, we need greater manufacturing capacity and, with ten years of production success based in China, we are confident that Ningbo will be the ideal centre for our factory operations. We’ve invested in a site that will not only serve the needs of our existing customers, but also allow us scope to grow our business in markets outside the UK. This is an exciting development and the result of months of very careful planning.” NG Bailey order Pipe Center has won an exclusive supply contract with NG Bailey. The supplier of heating, pipe and related products to the commercial and industrial building services sector will supply NG Bailey with all mandatory mechanical commodity products under an exclusive single source supplier deal which commenced in December 2012. Fifteen strategically located Pipe Center branches around the UK will service NG Bailey’s branch network ensuring maximum operational efficiency and order fulfilment. Additional service commitments such as 24-hour turnaround on selected applications and quotes, a specialist technical heating team, monthly measurement and reporting will also add value. In the current economic climate, Calmag Yorkshire has bucked the trend and grown its business in the past 12 months by over 20%. This has culminated in the company relocating from its current premises to the 23,000 square foot Riverview Building in Riddlesden, to cope with the expansion. “This is a major step from our humbling beginnings,” said managing director, Charles Wysocki. “The move to larger premises is part of an investment programme that ensures that we are able to increase our capability and capacity and also coincides with our ten year anniversary.” programme, with 50 apprenticeship places in the first wave. Fiona Perrin, sales and marketing director at HSS Hire, said: “The Newbury branch is one of the first of our new local branch designs – the look and feel is more akin to a modern retail outlet where customers are welcomed in and encouraged to browse the kit.” The new branch is located at Unit 5, Newbury Trade Park, Hambridge Road, Newbury, RG14 4PF.
