Kingspan Solar, part of Kingspan Renewables, has opened its first training centre specialising in renewable energy technologies.

The facility is aimed at installers looking to boost their earning potential through an in depth understanding of solar thermal, heat pumps and unvented hot water systems as well as industry standard accreditations.

Located in Halesowen, west Midlands, the training centre will provide experienced heating, plumbing and building professionals with the expertise needed to facilitate high-quality renewable energy installations.

By becoming qualified to install renewable technologies, installers can bolster their customer offering and maximise their earning potential. The wide range of courses available allows tradesmen to gain the industry-standard NICEIC Certification, which will also help towards gaining the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) accreditation.

Technical service manager, Andrew Pattison, said: “As a manufacturer we have an important part to play in helping installers reach the level of competence set out in the MCS. This will ensure that our products are installed to the highest possible standards and will therefore protect our customers’ investment in their chosen technology. By running certified training courses and helping them prepare for their MCS assessment we can help them achieve this level in as little as three weeks.”

The training is provided in conjunction with the Dudley College Centre for Engineering and Construction Industries and ranges from one to four days on a vast array of topics: from the benefits of renewables to customers, to the systems available, installation options and building regulations.
