Understanding the clear benefits

fernoxUsing the correct water treatment to maintain central heating systems is not only good practice but it is mandatory under Part L of the Building Regulations. With this in mind, Fernox continues to raise awareness and standards within the industry by announcing new training dates for 2010.

All central heating systems will be subjected to the effects of sludge and limescale build-up if the system has not been correctly chemically treated and maintained. This can lead to blocked radiators and a boiler that has to work hard to heat the radiators, resulting in excessive fuel usage and unnecessary carbon emissions.

Fernox training courses cover all types of central heating systems and problems that can occur including different forms of corrosion. The training explains why and how chemical water treatment can provide a cost effective solution, keeping central heating systems working efficiently and safeguarding long-term performance.

"Courses have been designed to provide hands on practical experience as well," said Dr Neil Watson, global technical director at Fernox. "Delegates have the chance to powerflush a system, dose a radiator with an inhibitor and use test kits for fault finding. With qualified instructors talking delegates through the process - they learn best practice and can see the benefits of water treatment first hand."

Fernox training courses also provide an overview of the Benchmark industry code of practice and Part L of the Building Regulations to ensure all attendees gain a clear understanding of how to comply.

Held at a wide range of venues across the UK, the course includes lunch and an informative course folder. Delegates also receive a complimentary training pack that includes £50 worth of Fernox products including solder and flux. Tailor-made courses are also available to suit an organisation’s specific requirements.
