Calor has hosted a third training workshop in partnership with well-respected gas training provider, Kier, at the Kier Gas Training centre at Killingworth, Newcastle upon Tyne to educate trainee gas engineers on the benefits of installing LPG heating for off-grid homes and businesses.

The course allows trainees to complete their Accredited Certificate Scheme qualification, offering full instruction on the technical differences between Natural Gas and LPG, and how boilers and appliances should be altered correctly.

Recognising a gap in the current training, Kier has enlisted Calor to bring its expertise on LPG, offering new information and guidance on the different LPG storage options, and how LPG should be stored safely at a customer’s premises.

Vicky Wood, gas training and development manager for Kier, said: “Although all the engineers leave the training course with their LPG qualifications, this very much concentrates on the technical elements of working with LPG as a fuel, and we felt that there was a gap in the education regarding the practicalities of getting and LPG supply to a customer’s property. Adding this workshop from Calor means that they now leave the course with a full knowledge of LPG and arranging installation.”

Calor’s specifier sales manager, Ian Digby, said: “I really enjoy hosting these workshops for Calor and working with the next generation of future LPG installers. Giving them all the correct information about LPG at start of their training means they are able to start engaging with rural customers as soon as they start their own businesses about the benefits of LPG and working in partnership with Calor.”
