MCS approval for Dimplex heat pumps

Dimplex Dimplex is improving choices for specifiers of heat pumps, with the recognition under the government’s Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) of two of its heat pump models, making them eligible for LCBP2 and CERT funding.

Through the course of the rigorous approvals process, Dimplex has also agreed a methodology with certification body BRE for ‘families’ of products to be tested and approved together.

Two heat pump models have gained the MCS approval – the LA 40 TU air source heat pump and the SI 6 MEH ground source model. These heat pumps have opened the door for a wide variety of users to benefit from renewable heat. And now that they attract funding under the LCBP2 and CERT schemes, they offer an even bigger boost to low carbon heat for public sector organisations as well as the private domestic sector.

The LA 40 TU is an innovative air source design offering a flow temperature up to 58ºC, although optimum performance is achieved at lower flow temperatures; typical CoP of 3.8 at A2/W35 and 4.4 at A7/W35. It’s ideal for applications including communal systems for apartment developments and commercial buildings. For buildings with higher heating loads, several heat pumps can be used in parallel.

The SI 6 MEH ground source heat pump comes from Dimplex’s high temperature range, capable of flow temperatures up to 70ºC, which allows the heat pump to provide domestic hot water up to 60ºC without the need for any supplementary energy from top up immersion heaters.
