On June 7, National Grid reported that the renewables sector had supplied more than half of the UK’s electricity.

In a comment to HPM, Dr. Nina Skorupska CBE, chief executive of the Renewable Energy Association, said: “This is what the new era of energy looks like. As costs for renewables continue to fall and investors become worried about investing in fossil generation, expect more days like these.

“As the US withdraws from the Paris Agreement we need to make sure the new the government produces a strong Industrial Strategy so we reap the benefits of cheaper energy and future proofed jobs.”
