Developers Tide Construction and Vision Modular Systems specified a variety of products from Marley Plumbing & Drainage’s portfolio for its latest project, Apex House, Europe’s tallest modular building. The high quality and lightweight construction of Marley’s PVC soil and waste system has contributed to the project.

For this project, an offsite construction was chosen for a number reasons: it would significantly reduce disruption to residents, as there would be 60 per cent fewer trucks on site; there would be a 90 per cent reduction in waste and most importantly, it would ensure that the project was completed on time and to budget.

Mark Hand, procurement and commercial director at Vision Modular Systems said: “Using modular construction on any project will ensure that high quality finishes are consistent throughout the build. Therefore, when it came to Apex House it was vital that the products we used within the modules were of exceptional quality. Having used Marley before on numerous projects, we knew that we could rely on its technical expertise, if they were required, and its PVC soil and waste system to deliver a solution that could withstand the high daily usage of the building.

“Marley’s products were installed in the modules built off site and then connected in situ, before a wall was built up around them. As the soil and waste system had to be connected after the pods had been positioned, it meant that the installers were working in a very compact environment and required products that would be easy to handle in constrained spaces. Marley’s PVC soil and waste products are both durable and lightweight, which was ideal for this project as it lead to easier handling and installation.”
