Plumbing equipment manufacturer, Altecnic, has appointed Alan Sherwin as its new managing director following the retirement of the firm’s founders from the board last month.

Alan joined Altecnic in 2000 as finance director and was instrumental in raising £6 million investment to fund the company’s move to new premises last year.

“This is an exciting time to take the helm at Altecnic,” said Alan. “We’ve weathered the economic downturn incredibly well. Whereas much of the construction industry experienced stagnation, we have actually bucked the trend and experienced growth throughout the recession.

“Having worked as part of the management team here for many years, I understand that plumbers and builders merchants respect us for offering uncompromising products supported by outstanding service from our staff. I’m looking forward to maintaining this culture within the company in my role as managing director.”

Established in 1988, Altecnic has become synonymous with the supply of plumbing equipment and provides products sold through the majority of UK plumbers’ and builders’ merchants.

In 2005, the company became part of the global Caleffi group which has a turnover of more than €264 million, employing around 1,000 staff worldwide.
