Registrations for the 20th annual Polypipe Regatta are now open.

The popular yacht race, hosted by Polypipe, returns to Portsmouth on Thursday September 6, bringing together the building, construction and plumbing sectors to take part in some friendly competition and spectacular sights at Port Solent.

The race will see around 50 vessels set sail to compete and raise money for Polypipe Building Products’ charity partner, Help for Heroes, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2018.

No experience is necessary as each yacht comes with an experienced skipper and mate, who will guide guests through the day.

The event opens with a birthday celebration on the evening of Wednesday September 5, giving attendees the chance to enjoy live music, street food, guest speakers, complimentary birthday cake and a welcome drink.

Cameron McLellan, MD of Polypipe Building Products, said: “Over the last two decades, the Polypipe Regatta has developed into a hugely popular event that never disappoints. It is the perfect chance for guests to get together, compete, and enjoy the festivities.”

The race will be followed by a prize-giving ceremony and a charity raffle.

A choice of yachts is available, with most competitors opting for the 40ft cruiser-racer seating up to ten of your own crew plus the skipper and mate, priced at £1,510 per yacht. Seamen looking for something a bit special can book a classic or historic yacht, including Sir Francis Chichester’s legendary Gipsy Moth IV. Each package includes places on a yacht, a skipper, breakfast, afternoon tea, waterproofs and regatta entry.
