NIBE 2005 is the perfect solution for Perton Cottage

Perton CottageWhen the owner of Perton Cottage needed a new heating system that was cheaper to run and more energy efficient than its existing system, Retherm – a Stoke-on-Trent based renewable energy expert - turned to NIBE Energy Systems for help.

After surveying the property, Retherm produced a system based on air-sourced energy channelled through a NIBE 2005 11kW unit, with the gained heat stored and circulated through a VVM300 hot water tank and electric boiler.

Since the NIBE air/water heating equipment is designed to heat houses in the depths of Swedish winters with temperatures well below freezing for long periods, the milder climate of the Midlands would cause no problems.

With part of the cost of the system offset by a Low Carbon Buildings Grant, Miss Franklin – the owner of Perton Cottage - jumped at the chance of generating energy literally out of thin air and at a tiny fraction of the previous cost. The NIBE 2005 unit, slim and freestanding, was duly installed near the rear wall of the cottage and the whole operation took only three days.

The running cost for electricity, now the only cost in regards to supplying energy to the house, is averaging £100 per month and very occasionally at times of real peak use, the house uses the thermostatically controlled immersion heater built into the new hot water tank.
