SustainaBuild is offering a range of targeted events and networking opportunities designed to equip small and medium-sized (SMEs) installation businesses in the construction industry to grow and access new and existing markets.

While the rest of the UK economy was virtually flat, the low carbon economy grew by up to five per cent. As this economy continues to recover and grow, development across a range of sectors is gathering pace.

The first of three free events open to businesses in the east of England begins in Watford on April 21. This event will focus on low carbon retrofit and will include a free guided tour of the Building Research Establishment innovation park, showcasing groundbreaking green technologies in some of the world’s most sustainable buildings.

The second event in Colchester on April 30 features a visit to Worsnop House, a sheltered housing scheme owned by SustainaBuild project partner, Colchester Borough Homes, which has undergone a major low carbon retrofit; including gas absorption heat pumps, renewable technologies and energy efficiency measures.

The third SustainaBuild event in Cambridge on May 7 is the final opportunity for businesses to receive free, expert advice on how to get the most out of the low carbon market and take their knowledge to the next level.

Rebecca Bear, programme manager at SustainaBuild, said: “This is a great opportunity that not only gives SMEs the chance to grow, but also helps stimulate low carbon economic growth in the east of England.”

All of the events will feature talks from specialists including: 2014 Green Social Housing Champion winner, Paul White; Richard Ryland, of Bosch; George Philips of Colchester Borough Homes; and representatives from the National Energy Foundation.

Climate Energy’s in-house consultants will also be hosting talks on the Renewable Heat Incentive, an update on the Green Deal and Energy Company Obligation and tendering for a small business.

Places are limited so email: sustainabuild@climateenergy.co.uk or call our expert team on 0208 633 9820 to book. For more information on the upcoming events, visit: www.sustainabuild.org.uk/Workshop/Upcoming.aspx
